Heat Pumps
REBATE PROGRAM
United will pay $125 per ton up to 10 tons for qualified air source heat pumps and $150 per ton for qualified geothermal systems. All requirements are listed on the rebate application, which is available by clicking here.
To be eligible, consumers must install the units for new home construction, changing out an older electric heating system (baseboard, ceiling cable, etc.) or switching from gas to a heat pump.
The rebate only applies to units installed after May 1, 2010.
More and more people are turning to heat pumps both air-to-air and geothermal to heat and cool their homes.
The units are extremely efficient and save money to operate, capturing heat that occurs naturally in the atmosphere, the ground or in well water to heat and cool without flames, fumes or odor.
United does not recommend one manufacturer over another, but can suggest several local and area contractors to help consumers decide which unit and application will work best for them.
As a service to our consumer, United REMC has information available to help homeowners make a decision on heat pumps, and recognize the savings these units can provide to your heating and cooling bills.

Energy Tip # 12
Clean Debris!
If you have central air conditioning, clean leaves and debris from the unit. To save energy, make sure they’re not too close to the compressor because they can block airflow. |
