Safety Publications
Safety is paramount at United REMC for obvious reasons. Training is on-going for employees, and equipment is checked at regular intervals. In addition, United has several programs which help consumers practice safe living not only around electricity but other areas as well.

United offers field trips to school kids fifth grade and older, teaching them basics about electricity and how to handle certain situations. The trips include a video, safety demonstration, a tour of our equipment yard, a pole climbing and equipment safety presentation by linemen, and a free lunch. In addition we offer safety talks for younger students upon request at schools throughout our service territory.
United likewise has people on staff ready to answer questions on proper electrical hookups for service. Our line crews must undergo over 8,000 hours of basic training to become journeymen linemen. And safety meetings are held monthly and are open to all employees.
Various publications – all free for the asking – are available dealing with specific topics. They include, but are not limited to: Farm safety, establishing a family disaster plan, safe living in manufactured housing, emergency preparedness, surge protection, electrical safety around the home, and more.
