PRIORITY SERVICE LIST (PSL) INFORMATION

Prepare now, to avoid an emergency situation later (click to expand)

United REMC has a Priority Service Listing (PSL) for accounts that request “priority” for medical purposes in a power outage.  We attempt to contact members on the PSL when we have a scheduled power outage. United REMC cannot guarantee uninterrupted power due to storms or other incidents beyond our control. We will attempt to restore power as soon as possible. Members on the PSL are strongly encouraged to have a backup power source or alternative plan in the event of an outage.

Some helpful tips if someone in your home depends on an electronically operated health aid:

    • • Plug electronic devices into surge protectors and consider using uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) on important devices.

    • • Consider investing in a portable generator to power vital equipment in the event of an extended blackout. Consult with a qualified electrician before installing the device.

    • • Keep an adequate supply of prescription drugs and medical equipment on hand in case a storm prevents you from getting refills.

    • • Keep a corded land line operating in your home, as cordless phones need power and will not work without it.

    • • Report all outages quickly by calling 1-800-542-6339, Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 1-800-776-0485 for after-hours outages.

To have your account added to United REMC’s Priority Service Listing, you will need to contact your physician or medical provider and request they mail or fax United REMC a  signed statement or form stating the need for priority status due to you or your family member’s health condition. Our fax number is 260-758-3157.   The mailing address is: Attn: Priority Service Listing, United REMC, P.O. Box 605, Markle, IN 46770.

If you or a family member are currently on United REMC’s Priority Service List and your address, phone, or life support equipment has changed, please notify our office asap.

Being on the PSL does not prevent an account from being disconnected due to non-payment.
