Renewables:
Connecting to the Grid

A lot of interest has been generated recently about wind and solar power – renewable energy.  And with the advance in technologies, many consumers are considering putting up a wind turbine on their property not only to generate electricity for their own use, but also to put excess capacity back onto the grid.  The same holds true for solar energy as well.

United REMC stands ready to work with consumers who want to pursue this type of generation.  However, there are certain safety and liability requirements that must be first considered.

To help with that, here are several documents which will explain the different areas to these requirements, and certainly should be considered prior to the installation of any type of generation equipment.  Take a look at this information, and if you have technical questions regarding the installation of this equipment, contact our Engineering Department.

Energy Tip # 19
